Our main supplier of spectacle lenses is Seiko. Having used several lens suppliers over the years, we now believe that Seiko is the company best able to offer the kind of superior product and excellent customer service that our clients deserve.
Spectacle lenses come in different forms depending on whether you require your spectacles to do one task or several. With so many visual tasks needed to be performed during the day, it may be beneficial to have more than one pair of spectacles, but it can be a confusing choice. Here are some of the options open to you:
Single Vision Lenses
If you only require your spectacles to see at a set distance, such as walking about, driving, or working at a computer, or you require spectacles for specific tasks, like reading a book or close-up work, then Single Vision or Single Focus lenses are likely to be best suited to your needs. They will give you clear vision at one specified distance.
Bifocal Lenses
As the word ‘bi’ suggests, Bifocal Lenses have two predetermined distances where your vision is going to be clear. One could be for distance vision, and then the second focus for reading. There will usually be a visible horizontal (or sometimes curved) line across the spectacle lens indicating where the two different focal lengths separate.
Varifocal Lenses
These lenses have no visible line to define where the variable focus changes, but with clever technology, the prescription has a gradual change throughout the vertical aspect of the lens to enable the wearer to see clearly at all distances. Varifocal lenses are amazing for allowing the wearer to manage most tasks with just one pair of spectacles.
Whatever your budget, varifocal lenses can be tailor made for you. We offer a full money-back guarantee* if you do not love your spectacles.
Occupational lenses
With more and more use of computers in all their various forms, an additional pair of Vocational, Occupational or Indoor/Computer spectacles may provide a more tailored vision for our work lives. We offer a full money-back guarantee* if you do not love your spectacles.
Polaroid Lenses
Seiko’s ‘Polar Thin’ is the world’s thinnest Polarized Lens. This offers the wearer an impressive reduction in glare – off the road ahead, a puddle or longer stretch of water, for example – with improved contrast and colour. These lenses are lightweight in design, so they can be used in all types of frames, including a rimless and supra frame. The colour choices include Cool Grey or Warm Brown.
Sport ‘Curved’ Lens
Curved Lenses allow you to wear either a single vision lens or a progressive lens, while engaging in sports or recreation without compromising on your look, comfort or quality. There are many different colours to choose from, with photochromic or polarized options. These lenses are perfect for tailoring your spectacles to whatever your sport, hobby or individual style.
Photochromic Lenses
Photochromatic Lenses adapt to your surroundings quickly to help protect your eyes from being over-exposed to light, whether you are indoors or outdoors. These lenses come in: Brown, Grey and Green. These can be a valuable asset and reduce the need for having several pairs of sunglasses for different situations.
Tinted or Coated Lenses
As well as being used to assist with correcting vision issues, lenses with specific tints and coatings can also help to protect eyes from light or harmful rays. From intense outdoor activities to interacting with digital devices, or even to add a bit of personality to your spectacles, a set of Tinted Lenses can be tailored to suit your lifestyle and offer your eyes valuable protection.
We offer full or graduated tints in a range of colours. Some of these can aid Dyslexia, while Multi Anti Reflection (MAR) coatings can help to counter the glare from car headlights while driving, or the glare of digital devices. We also offer Hard Coatings for those who are more heavy-handed with their spectacles, to offer a more robust lens.
Industrial Lenses
Industrial and Safety Lenses are made out of Toughened Glass. However, we can also offer the option of lenses made from an organic material called Polycarbonate, which is half the weight of Toughened Glass and has a very high breaking strength. These lenses are softer than glass, so they absorb impact better, and are ideal for safety eyewear.
*Full money back guarantee available for up to three months after purchase of a varifocal or occupational lens.
