Description
Vehicles manufactured by the Caterpillar company have been changing the face of the planet for almost a century. Founded in California in 1925, Caterpillar is the largest manufacturer of construction equipment in the world, as well as the maker of some of the largest construction equipment in the world! (You may have to read that twice!)
The company started out in 1890 as the Holt Manufacturing Company, making steam tractors. The game-changer came around 1909, when Holt bought the rights to the world’s first track-laying technology, and with that, the company really started to go places, quite literally. The way the tracks wound round the driving wheels gave the appearance of a caterpillar, undulating across the ground, and so the name was born.
Today the company’s trademark yellow-painted earthmovers can be seen on every continent, helping in the construction of new roads, dams, railways and major building projects. With the ability to move tons of rock, soil and rubble with the single sweep of a blade or a bucket, Caterpillar’s vehicles exude a sense of rugged strength, and to a certain extent, the same is true of the eyewear that bears the CAT branding.
Made in the UK under licence since 1988, CAT Eyewear combines a philosophy for great design and top quality with style and sporty functionality. For those seeking a look that reflects a sense of the outdoors, for both men and women, then CAT frames can supply the answer.
